Multi-Cultural Wedding Planning: Top Tips to Consider!
1 June 2018
If you are looking to book a multicultural wedding in the East Riding Area, on the outskirts of Hull, here are some tips that you may find useful:
Choose your location carefully, and well in advance
As your guest numbers are likely to go in the high hundreds, the choice of your wedding venue is paramount. Do not leave it last minute. Popular wedding venues get booked 18 months, sometimes 2-3 years in advance; so secure your date early. As you would like your Stage to be visible from all areas of the Ballroom, visualise it with your Decorator and agree on the best location for it.
Car parking
As most of your guests will arrive by car, the number of car parking spaces should be at least 300. At the Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel there are 600 car parking spaces available ensuring parking for all.
Look for an experienced wedding planner
As multicultural weddings are bespoke, ensure that your choice of venue has enough experience in catering for them. Maurizio De Martino, Operations Manager at Mercure Hull Grange Park, and his team have delighted many a Bride and Groom over the past few years.
Book your priest and temple early
Summer months are popular. Speak to your temple or mosque early so that you can get your choice of time slot. This, of course, then needs to be co-ordinated with the wedding venue and the caterer. Start your planning early.
Explain traditions to your guests
Being a multicultural society, some of your guests maybe from a different faith, culture or background and they may not be aware of your traditions. Send them a plan of the day with an explanation of how the day will run. This way, they will be more involved in your special day.
Highlight music and dance steps
If you wish to include any special Bollywood song for you first dance, speak to your DJ. Practice your dance moves. Think if you need some background dancers to delight and entertain your guests.
Menu
Oh that all-important part of your wedding day. The Mercure Hull Grange Park works with Tapasya Catering. They have two excellent Indian restaurants in Hull. They were recently awarded the ‘Commendation Award’ at REYTA 2018 (Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards). We would highly recommend them for your catering requirements.
Cultural fashion
Getting your dress right for the occasion is all important. Try Bombay Stores in Bradford for that traditional look. Otherwise for a more contemporary Asian look, try Janan, also in Bradford.
Consider a second wedding ceremony
If one of the family is from abroad, why not do a more intimate ceremony from their country? That way you will have an authentic experience.
Personalise it
Leave your stamp, it’s your day. Your whole family will give suggestions, however, make sure that you also include what you would like, as you will remember the day for life.
If you’re looking for a wedding venue that can cater for hundreds in an ideal location – only 50 metres from Willerby Manor – then the Mercure Hull Grange Park can help.
